Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Home

The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Home was built in 1911. After serving as a convalescent home for less than a decade, it became the Middlesboro Hospital beginning in the 1920s. The building was donated by Dallas Shackelford to Discover Downtown Middlesboro in December 2012. Ever since then this non-profit organization has worked diligently to build support and find new uses for this iconic building in the heart of our historic downtown. Keep track of this project by following our Elks Home page on Facebook.

Proposed Use

Given its location in the historic downtown area, the ground floor and second floor lend themselves to commercial and office use, whereas the third and fourth floor are ideal for residences.
